It's hard to believe that we are soon closing out 2019.  There are many exciting things planned for the remainder of our school year.  We hope you all have a wonderful winter break and we look forward to seeing you in 2020!

PTSA Meeting

Are you new to living in an earthquake area? Maybe your new year’s resolution is to create a home emergency kit but you don’t know where to start. Join us on Thursday, January 16 at 7pm in the Grand Ridge library where the City of Issaquah’s Emergency Management Coordinator will talk with us about emergency preparedness. We’ll also do a brief update on PTSA financials and programs as well as elect a Nomination Committee to recruit for elected PTSA Board of Director positions. Children are welcome at the meeting. We hope to see you there!

2020 Renewal/Replacement Levy

During out November PTSA meeting, we had a guest speaker from ISD who discussed and answered questions on the 2020 renewal/replacement levy on the ballot for February. If you were unable to attend but are interested in checking out the information, the materials can be found here

Volunteer of the Month

Our volunteer of the month is Kim Collette!  Kim has served as the supply coordinator for our Art Docent Program for the last three years.  She manages the lengthy inventory list and orders a year’s worth of supplies during the early part of the school year which is incredibly vital to the success of our program.  Kim also has served as classroom art docent for many years.  Thank you for all you do Kim!

Java with Jill

We appreciate your feedback after our last Java with Jill session.  Based on feedback received, our next session will be in the afternoon.  Java with Jill will be on Friday, January 17 at 2:30pm in Portable 10.  You are welcome to bring your children.  Mrs. Ravenscraft will provide updates on what is going on around the school along with answer any questions you may have for her.  This is a great opportunity to have some time with our Principal!  If you have any topics that you’d wish for her to touch upon, please email them to

Spelling Bee

Grand Ridge’s annual Spelling Bee returns on January 13, 14, and 15.  Registration is open through January 6.  Visit our Spelling Bee page on our website for registration information and spelling lists by grade. Family Engineering Night

Family Engineering night is a chance to have interactive STEM experiences and enjoy learning TOGETHER.  The hands of activities promote the engineering process, scientific thinking, and an opportunity to learn and play as a family.  Sign up by February 5th to ensure we have enough materials for everyone.

Book Swap

Our bi-annual book swap is returning on February 27.  Start setting aside any gently used books your family is ready to pass on.  Collection starts in early February.

Science Fair

Save the date!  Our bi-annual Science Fair returns on March 18.  Our Science Fair isn’t only for kids.  Grown-ups love science too!  We are looking for parents or community members that would like to participate by sharing your own professional expertise or fun & creative projects you are working on.  If you are interested, contact our Event Director, Liette Loiselle, at

Scholastic Book Fair

Thank you for a great Scholastic Book Fair to start the month! It is amazing seeing the library transform into a book store and the excitement of the kids to see what's inside. In addition to the books you purchased for your homes and teacher classrooms, we raised over $5,500 for the Grand Ridge library! We couldn't have done it without our Book Fair Chairs Kristen Dayley, Jo Mockford, and Melynda Cook, along with a great crew of volunteers - many thanks!

Easy Money for Grand Ridge

Did you know there are several ways to raise money for Grand Ridge simply by doing things you may already be doing today?  If you shop on Amazon, use the AmazonSmile program to have a portion of your purchase price donated to our PTSA.  Bartell’s and Fred Meyer also offer a rewards program that can benefit Grand Ridge.  For more information on these and other opportunities, visit our fundraising page

Volunteer Opportunities

We always have opportunities available for those who wish to volunteer outside of the classroom.  While many opportunities are during the day, we also have many that are in the evening and even some you can do from home.  There are also options where you can bring your children with you.  Check out our volunteer opportunities.  If you have questions, please connect with our Volunteer Director, Kainoa Patterson at
