We hope your Fall is off to a wonderful start! It is great seeing everyone back at Grand Ridge, full of smiles and enthusiasm. We also want to welcome those new to the Grand Ridge community.

Thank you to everyone who supported our school through the Orange Ruler fundraiser. Thanks to your generosity, we raised $82,891 which will support all students are Grand Ridge by providing stipends to teachers along with funding programs such as author visits, recess events, technology subscriptions, and more.

Now it’s time to celebrate with our Orange Ruler Pig Race and Grizzly Fun Run! The pig race is where the top 10 classrooms get to decorate a toy pig and race it against each other to see which pig is the fastest. The kids have a ton of fun with this event. The Grizzly Fun Run is where all students run during recess to celebrate their fundraising efforts. We need your help to cheer on students as they run the course. The more the merrier!  We encourage you to cheer on all students or you can choose to join us for your student’s time only. This will take place on Wednesday, October 2nd during regular recess.  Hope to see you there!

**Please check in at the gate by the garden before coming out to the field.

Students may submit up to 2 entries per category, and they can enter in all categories if they are feeling extra creative.  Entries are due on Monday, October 28th.  For more information, please visit our website at http://grandridgeptsa.org/Page/Programs/Reflections

Cultural Club

Cultural Club is returning to Grand Ridge in November. This program gives students the opportunity to learn about a country and its culture on Thursdays during 2nd recess (1:40-3:00pm) in Portable 10. If you would love to share about the country you are from or even just one that you love, contact Darpan Marwah at grptsadiversitydirector@gmail.com for more information.

After School Movies

After School Movies are back! We will show How to Train a Dragon: The Hidden World (PG) on Wednesday, Oct. 16th, and Halloween short films (PG) on Wednesday, Oct 30th, for your student's enjoyment, immediately after school. Each After School Movie date is open to all grades (K-5) and there are 100 first-come-first-served spots available for each movie. A $10 donation is requested per Grand Ridge student. Registration for the movie is due no later than the Monday before the showing you wish to attend. No exceptions. Go to http://grandridgeptsa.org to register your child and sign-up to volunteer.  Once your child's spot is reserved, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. For questions, please email jess_russi@yahoo.com.

Java with Jill

New this year will be informal updates with our principal, Mrs. Jill Ravenscraft.  These will take place on select mornings before school.  The first one is scheduled for Wednesday, October 16th from 7:45-8:45am in the library. This is a fantastic way to get to know our Principal, receive updates, and ask questions. This was scheduled for a Wednesday morning to take advantage of the late start that Middle and High School students have in hopes that students with older siblings will be able to have those siblings watch the younger ones while you attend this event.  However, there will be staff on hand to supervise kids doing quiet activities/reading if needed. If you want to submit a question in advance, you can do so here. If you are unable to make this event, Mrs. Ravenscraft will attend our next General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, November 19th at 9am which will give you another opportunity to receive updates from her and ask questions.

Workroom Training

If you are volunteering this year, you need to attend a brief workroom training in order to familiarize yourself with the workroom and the proper usage of certain items. The training shouldn't take more than 15 mins at most.  Trainings are offered at 9:15am, 3pm, and 5:30pm on Monday, September 30th and Thursday, October 3rd.  Sign up here.  If you are unable to attend any of the scheduled sessions, please contact Kainoa Patterson at grptsavolunteers@gmail.com.

Is your child normal? New ParentWiser talk!

Meet and hear Jonathan Mooney on speaking tour for his new book, Normal Sucks! With humor, knowledge and hope, Mooney speaks on neuro-diversity, how we should stop fixing people and start empowering them. He gives hope for anyone who learns differently, emphasizing the impact of supportive teaching and parenting. Join us Oct 22 at 7pm at Skyline HS. This event is FREE for PTSA members.  For non-members, a $10 donation is suggested.  REGISTER HERE

Family Social

Whether you’re new to Grand Ridge or have been at Grand Ridge for many years, we want to invite you to a Family Social.  This is a chance to meet other families, visit with families you already know, and learn more about what the PTSA is and what we do for our school.  Children are welcome.  A morning option is being planned for the first week of November and an afternoon or evening option is being planned for after the New Year.  More information to come. Hope to see you there!
