CULTURAL DIVERSITY AT GRAND RIDGE

Cultural spotlight for the month of February is INDIA.  Cultural Diversity volunteers host a workshop full of fun crafts and activities, such as , “sand” art, elephant masks, and cultural learning every Tuesday during afternoon

**CULTURAL FOCUS WILL BE INDIA IN FEBRUARY** 

Cultural Focus for December:  Winter Celebrations

The Cultural Diversity Council will be sharing traditions done in December from various countries with the kids, such as cleaning the home to have a fresh start for the New Year. Combining this with the spirit of giving during the
holidays, we are asking the kids to donate a gently used toy found in their cleaned room.  Please have them bring the
item to school on 12/6 or 12/13, to be collected and donated to Eastside Baby Corner.

Coming up--Cultural Focus for January: Korea

Did you have extra good luck this past week? You may be able to thank the “Lucky Eye” the students made at the cultural workshop during afternoon recess last week. Intricate mosaic tiles with Turkish motifs were also created – all sponsored by the Cultural Diversity Council!

 (Japan) Cultural Focus:

A HUGE thank you to the ladies of Team Japan (Yukiko Foss, Akiko Chong, Nori Dy, Mikako Fijiwara, Miyuki Murakami, Mihoko Nakakjima, Nana Tsujino, Hisako Wilcoxsen, Noriko Wong) for hosting the very first Cultural Spotlight month at Grand Ridge. 

Their amazing creativity, flexibility, generosity, and hours upon hours of time created a wonderful series of afternoon recess crafts and games for the students.  In addition ,these ladies put together a museum of Japanese artifacts for viewing in the library.  ARIGATO, Team Japan!!!
