Parent and Student Education Opportunities

At Grand Ridge Elementary School we strive to find effective parenting resources for our families. Below are some upcoming classes available to all our families, that are offered at schools throughout the Issaquah district. There are a variety of topics and approaches available, sponsored in part by the Issaquah PTA Council.

1. Love and Logic - Clark Elementary, March 12, 19, 26 & April 2

2. Film: "The Race to Nowhere" - Issaquah High School, March 1, 6:00pm (Watch the trailer Buy a ticket)

3. Helping Kids Learn and Thrive: Simplicity Parenting and the Family Brain - Cascade Ridge, Thursday, March 1, 7:00-8:30pm

4. Substance Abuse Prevention  - Beaver Lake Middle School, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29

     

Race to Nowhere, the award-winning documentary that examines the high stakes, high pressure environment that has invaded our children's lives is the offering of Community Conversations--a film series featuring documentaries that focus on critical educational topics sponsored by IEA, ISF, ISD and PTSA.  The screening will be followed by a post-film panel during which audience members can discuss their reactions with a panel of students, teachers, parents and principals.


Race to Nowhere will be shown on March 1 at the Issaquah High School Performing Arts Center. We recommend you buy your ticket in advance.  Remaining tickets will be sold at the door at 5:30.  Doors open at 6:00.  The movie is from 6:30-8:00 with the panel discussion from 8:00 – 9:00.
